Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the unique craftsmanship of Narsapuram lace craft.
In Man Ki Baat programme, he said: “this effort in Narasapuram has brought back to life the lo-cal lace craft and thus empowered several people.”
Thanking profusely for praising the Narsapuram lace craft, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took to X, to say- “Thank you for your appreciation of the Narsapuram lace craft, Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi Ji. Andhra Pradesh is home to many traditional arts that have been preserved by families and communities over generations.”
Naidu said “one such beautiful art form is crochet lace making, which originated in Narsapuram. I sincerely appreciate the skill and dedication of the women who have not only preserved this art, but also taken it to the world. It is heartening to see their work flourish again and receive the recognition it truly deserves. We will continue to cherish and support this art and empower the artisans associated with it.”
IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh, said in another post on his X handle: “Grateful to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji for recognising the timeless beauty of Narsapuram lace and the dignity of labour behind it.”
He said: “This traditional craft sustains over 1 lakh women in Andhra Pradesh.
